JUST IN: Jandor Holds Secret Talks with President Tinubu at Aso Rock

Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, held a discreet meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Monday, report by TheCable says

The meeting, which remained undisclosed to the public, took place between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, sources told TheCable

Jandor recently parted ways with the PDP, citing internal discord and “anti-party activities,” though he has yet to declare his next political move. His resignation comes after a turbulent journey from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, where he contested against incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The 47-year-old politician previously criticized the PDP’s national leadership for undermining his chances in the last election, alleging that misleading claims of an alliance cost him crucial votes. Sanwo-Olu of the APC secured 762,134 votes, while Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour garnered 312,329 votes, leaving Jandor with 62,449.

In his resignation letter, Jandor expressed disappointment with the PDP’s leadership, stating, “We dedicated ourselves to the ideals of democracy—good governance and the pursuit of a better Lagos. However, it has become evident that the party’s leadership, both at the national and state levels, has failed to uphold its principles.”

He further hinted at consultations to decide on his next political step, emphasizing the potential for his supporters to align with another platform.

While the specifics of his discussions with President Tinubu remain undisclosed, sources within Aso Rock suggest it was a reconciliation effort that could pave the way for future political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Prior to this meeting, Jandor had engaged in consultations with key political figures, including former military heads of state Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar in Minna, as well as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
