The app, developed through a strategic collaboration between the Lagos State Government, MTN, and other key stakeholders, was unveiled on Thursday at the MTN Plaza in Falomo, Ikoyi.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented at the event by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, described the launch as a groundbreaking moment in Lagos’ journey toward becoming Africa’s leading smart city.
“This platform is a reflection of our administration’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and service excellence. The MyLagos App is not just an app; it is a digital gateway that seamlessly connects residents to essential city services, from real-time traffic updates to emergency services, business listings, utility payments, and tourism information,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He emphasized that technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity, adding that the app will enhance governance, improve service delivery, and strengthen the relationship between the government and Lagosians.
“With this launch, Lagos is reinforcing its position as a leader in digital transformation, not just in Nigeria but across Africa. This is a huge step in our vision of making Lagos a smart city,” he added.
The governor commended MTN and other partners for bringing the vision to life, noting that the collaboration between the public and private sectors exemplifies the power of synergy in driving meaningful progress.
He encouraged Lagos residents to embrace the digital future by downloading and utilizing the MyLagos App to explore its vast features and enhance their daily activities.
MTN’s Manager for Digital Channel Management, Abdulhakeem Giwa, also lauded the initiative, describing the app as revolutionary.
“MyLagos App is designed to redefine urban experiences by making city navigation seamless. It offers real-time solutions to residents, ensuring better and easier access to key services, locations, and traffic updates,” Giwa stated.
With the launch of the MyLagos App, Lagos has taken a bold step toward integrating smart technology into daily life, solidifying its status as Nigeria’s hub of innovation and digital excellence.
