Badagry Magistrate Court Remands Man in Awhanjigo Prison for Stealing Magbon School Properties

A Badagry Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Bashir, at the Awhanjigo Correctional Centre for stealing school properties at Mauyon Green School, Magbon, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni issued the remand order on Friday after the accused pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing items valued at N1.1 million. The court adjourned the case until April 24 for review of facts and sentencing.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, the theft occurred around midnight on March 27. Bashir was said to have stolen 20 pieces of aluminum sheets worth N300,000, seven ceiling fans valued at N380,000, and a computer central processing unit worth N420,000.

All the stolen items, according to the prosecution, belong to Mrs. Margret Adasa, who filed the complaint.

The charge brought against the defendant contravenes Section 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
