A federal high court in Abuja earlier today slammed a Ten Million Naira (₦10million) damages against Qatar Airways in favor of Mrs. Blessing Mary Ocheido, a physically challenged woman for denying her a flight from Abuja to London.

According to a human rights activist and constitutional lawyer, First Baba Isa, (FBI) the councel to plantif, the court fined the airline for discriminating against his client on the basis of her disabilty.

FBI, in post shared on his verified Facebook page said, "Today, the FCT High Court, sitting in Apo, awarded the sum of N10, 000, 000 (Ten Million Naira) against Qatar Airways in favour of our client, Blessing Mary Ocheido. 

" In September, 2022, Qatar Airways refused to fly our client from Abuja to London, claiming that she didnt pre-inform them that she was disabled and wheelchair bound. They also refused to rebook her or refund her the money used to purchase the ticket. 

"We took up the matter pro bono. This is the first judgement in a couple of suits filed to seek redress for her."
