In the past five years, the assembly has been able to bring together many sons and daughters of Ogu from different works of life into a family hub where ancestral commonality and cultural affinity are the hallmarks, thereby promoting unity, cohesion, brotherhood and resilience.
In furtherance of its mission to promote Ogu cultural heritage, the assembly convoked its first summit in 2022 at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo-Badagry, Lagos State with the theme "MIJEPO." Again, this weekend, the assembly will be celebrating its five years anniversary and the second summit at MercyLand Hotel, Idiroko, Ogun State with the theme "GBENOPO." These thematic principles - MIJEPO and GBENOPO underscore the OGA trajectory for unity, collaboration, common purpose and pursuit of cultural awareness and integrity.
This second summit and fifth anniversary offer great platform for all Ogu people in Nigeria and in diaspora to assemble, familiarize, share ideas, celebrate and promote our humanity and heritage. It's a time to project our uniqueness, originality, history and worldview through discussions and different cultural displays.
In the light of the above, I celebrate with the Convener, Prof. Jendele Hungbo, for his doggedness, foresight and resilience. Also, I join the Board of Trustees, Steering Committee, Central Planning Committee led by Mr. Steve Agboyinu, and all Ogu sons and daughters on this epoch making and culturally garnished event.
