Themed “Gbènòpó: The Imperative of Pan-Ogu Unity Beyond Borders", the event seeks to unite Ogu leaders, traditional rulers, and communities from across Nigeria and the diaspora, fostering stronger bonds and mapping out a collective vision for the future.
According to a social media post by CityMood Magazine, Prof. Jendele Hungbo, the convener, highlighted the milestone’s significance in bridging cultural and geographical divides, emphasizing the importance of unity within the Ogu race. Meanwhile, Mr. Steve Agboyinu, chairman of the planning committee, disclosed that the anniversary will feature a variety of activities designed to celebrate the resilience and richness of Ogu traditions.
The celebrations commenced on 19th October with a Sports Fiesta held at LG Primary School, Ayede, Ado-Odo, where traditional games and activities brought participants together in a spirit of camaraderie. The next highlight will be the Ogu International Culture Fiesta on 28th November at Marina, Badagry, showcasing cultural displays, music, and performances that celebrate the community’s diverse heritage.
The grand finale is slated for 30th November at Mercyland Hotel, Idiroko, where the event will culminate in a blend of cultural exhibitions, networking opportunities, and strategic dialogues focused on the Ogu people's future.
