The announcement was made yesterday during Hon. Whingan's distribution of yuletide gifts to 400 widows and women in the constituency. The beneficiaries received 10kg bags of rice, packs of spaghetti, bottles of groundnut oil, mosquito nets, towels, baby diapers, blankets, guinea brocade fabrics, and cash gifts of ₦10,000 each.
The Badagry Free School Ride buses will commence operations in January 2025, coinciding with the start of the new academic term. The service will span three councils: Badagry Local Government, Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), and Badagry West LCDA.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Whingan emphasized its importance: “Education remains a top priority for my administration, and I understand the challenges many families face in ensuring their children get to school. These buses are a step towards making education accessible and stress-free for every child in Badagry Federal Constituency.”
The buses are strategically designed to reach students in remote areas, ensuring inclusivity and equal access to education across the constituency. The program is part of Hon. Whingan’s broader vision of reducing the financial burden on parents while fostering educational opportunities for all.
The announcement has been met with widespread praise from parents, teachers, and community leaders, who described the gesture as a transformative step for education in Badagry.
This initiative adds to Hon. Whingan’s growing legacy of delivering impactful programs aimed at improving the lives of his constituents.
