Ogungbe-Yusuf, an aspirant for the 2025 Badagry West Local Council Development Area of Lagos State Council Chairmanship Election, stated that the initiative underscors her commitment to empowering women and promoting gender equality in Badagry communities.
“Today, we gather to celebrate the resilience and determination of remarkable women who have been selected to receive cash empowerment,” she said. “The cash grants of ₦20,000 are intended to help them celebrate the yuletide festival. For those who wish to invest in their petty businesses, it provides the resources they need to improve their economic situation.”
She expressed gratitude to individuals who contributed financially to the success of the empowerment program and reaffirmed her dedication to enhancing the welfare of women and girls in Badagry-West.
Hon. Joseph Gbenu, Chairman of Badagry-West LCDA, commended Ogungbe-Yusuf for her efforts and urged beneficiaries to utilize the grants purposefully. Gbenu also revealed plans to organize another empowerment program in early 2025 to reach more residents.
Mr. Abu Oriyemi, a Lagos State Executive Committee member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), endorsed Ogungbe-Yusuf’s aspirations, highlighting her impactful contributions to the community. “The party elders are observing her activities, and she will surely reap the fruits of her labor,” Oriyemi stated.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Deborah Dosu, expressed her gratitude, promising to use the grant to support her business and celebrate the festive season.
The event was graced by notable personalities, including Hon. Peter Metome, APC LGA Chairman; Alhaji Bashir Yusuf, Secretary to the Leaders Forum; Chief Dakar Arogunjo; Alhaja Osenatu Okejale, Apex Woman Leader of Badagry West; and Mrs. Esther Awhanjinu.
Ogungbe-Yusuf’s empowerment initiative reflects her dedication to fostering economic empowerment and social inclusion in Badagry-West, as she continues to champion the cause of vulnerable groups within the community.
