The event, attended by key local government officials and sports enthusiasts, culminated in a thrilling match between Badagry All Stars Football Club and PSS Holdings Football Club. The Badagry All Stars emerged victorious with a 3-1 win, earning a trophy and the grand prize of ₦500,000. The first runner-up, PSS Holdings, received ₦300,000, while the third-place team took home ₦250,000.
In his address, Hon. Onilude reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to fostering unity and talent development through grassroots sports. “The Chairman’s Cup is part of our broader policy to inspire local athletes to excel nationally and internationally. Over the last three weeks, we have witnessed teamwork, resilience, and outstanding talent. Football not only entertains but also breaks barriers and builds stronger community bonds,” he said.
Hon. Taiwo Towolawi, Supervisor for Agriculture and Social Services, praised Hon. Onilude’s efforts in providing a platform for local talents, expressing gratitude for the chairman’s unwavering support for sports development in Badagry.
The grand finale was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Elizabeth Kappo; Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Moses Gbetogo Opa; the Council Manager, Mrs. Olusanya Mary Abosede; and councillors led by Hon. Akindele Taofiq.
The Chairman’s Cup, an annual event under Hon. Onilude’s administration, continues to unite communities and nurture budding talents, reinforcing Badagry’s reputation as a hub for grassroots sports development.
