Sesi Whingan Badagry 1000TTP

Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, has reaffirmed his commitment to fostering technological innovation among youths in the region. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the inaugural cohort of the Badagry 1000 Tech Talents Project (Badagry 1000TTP) at the Badagry Theatre, Hon. Whingan rewarded 50 outstanding participants with brand-new HP laptops.  

The initiative, organized in partnership with Codeverse Africa, aims to equip 1,000 youths across Badagry Local Government, Olorunda LCDA, and Badagry West LCDA with tech skills to combat unemployment and poverty. This first cohort saw 120 participants complete rigorous training in website development, product design, data analysis, and project management.  

Addressing the graduands, Hon. Whingan emphasized the importance of shifting from being consumers of technology to becoming innovators and creators in a global tech economy.  

"The exceptional performance of this cohort assures me that my dream of equipping Badagry youths with tech skills is achievable. I promise to support and partner with any trainee who comes up with innovative tech projects from this training. With expertise in technology, we can significantly reduce unemployment and poverty in Badagry,” he stated.  

Hon. Whingan’s vision for the project extends beyond training; he pledged continued support for any innovative initiatives developed by participants. The event was marked by the presentation of six impressive tech projects by graduands, showcasing the transformative potential of the training.  

Dr. David Opeyemi Oke, Chairman of the Technical Organizing Committee, lauded Hon. Whingan’s foresight and dedication.  

Technology is the goldmine of our era, and Hon. Whingan's initiative positions Badagry youths to reap its vast opportunities. This is a transformative step for the community,” Dr. Oke remarked.  

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including APC leaders, local government officials, and community stakeholders. Among them were Mr. SS Balogun, Prince Wale Adesina, Chief Avigbe Joshua, Aremo Olu Kosoko, and Mr. Sewhude Akande,.among others

The Badagry 1000TTP is set to continue, with 880 more youths expected to benefit in the coming months. This ambitious project underscores Hon. Whingan’s commitment to youth empowerment and positions Badagry as a budding hub for digital innovation.
