The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in a bold move to restore public trust and curb unprofessional conduct has released direct contact numbers of high-ranking officers to report cases of corruption, misconduct, and fraudulent use of the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) name.
The announcement, made through a public notice on December 28, 2024, highlighted growing concerns over the persistent unethical behavior of some officers, which the NPF noted undermines the institution’s integrity. The notice also raised alarms over fraudulent acts where offenders exploit the IGP’s name and office to intimidate citizens and deter complaints.
“These shameful acts erode public trust,” the notice stated, emphasizing that the misuse of the IGP’s identity has been a tactic to scare victims into submission. The NPF reassured the public of its commitment to eradicating such practices and urged citizens to report misconduct swiftly.
How to Report Misconduct
To facilitate complaints, the NPF provided the following direct contact numbers:
- DCP Akin Fakorede (Head, IGP Monitoring Unit): 08184077076
- ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi (Force Public Relations Officer): 08037168147
- CSP Taiwo Oyewale (Head, IGP Special Investigation Unit): 08069318238
- SP Sherriff Lawal (ADC to the IGP): 08094712605
Members of the public are urged to exercise caution when approached by officers claiming connections to the IGP or any senior police officer for undue favors or influence.
A Call for Public Collaboration
The NPF encouraged Nigerians to take an active role in holding officers accountable, assuring that all complaints will be treated with utmost seriousness.
“We are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism,” said ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer.
This initiative underscores the NPF’s determination to rebuild its reputation by fostering transparency and accountability within its ranks. Citizens are encouraged to utilize the provided channels to ensure justice and fairness in their interactions with law enforcement.
For further inquiries or to report incidents, the public can reach out to the Nigeria Police Force at the listed contacts.
