Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, Former MHR, Badagry Federal Constituency |
Hunpe made this appeal on Sunday while addressing journalists at the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, held in Povita, Badagry. He emphasized that his extensive experience in governance at both the state and federal levels qualifies him to drive sustainable development in Badagry.
“I have served in the cabinet of Lagos State twice and understand the integrity of governance, the system, and management,” Hunpe said. “I also thank the good people of Badagry for allowing me to serve as their representative at the federal level, where I gained invaluable experience. Now I am back home, seeking their support to serve as the chairman of Badagry Local Government.”
According to News Peddlers, Hunpe highlighted his achievements during his tenure in the House of Representatives, noting the challenges he faced, including legal battles and the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly shortened his effective time in office. Despite these obstacles, he stated that he delivered impactful projects for Badagry and worked tirelessly to ensure progress, particularly in advocating for the completion of the Badagry Expressway.
“Those who followed my tenure know we made significant efforts despite the hurdles. The number of projects I facilitated is there for all to see. I am ready to bring this same dedication to the office of Chairman, turning things around for the benefit of our people,” he stated.
Hunpe also called on the residents of Badagry to embrace unity and love for one another, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad and Jesus Christ.
With his declaration, Hunpe joins the race for the chairmanship, aiming to leverage his experience to position Badagry on a path to progress.
