By Akonasu Gbedozin Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu, the representative of Badagry Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has called ...
The meeting was organized to foster unity among APC stakeholders and strategize on advancing Badagry’s socio-economic development and its contributions to Lagos State.
In his address, Hon. Bonu emphasized that Badagry has made significant contributions to Lagos State and is now positioned among the five divisions of Lagos State, collectively known as IBILE (Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe), to produce the next governor. He urged political leaders from Badagry to unite and present a strong, unified front to advocate for greater representation in the state’s political leadership.
"Badagry has matured among the comity of divisions in Lagos State and deserves its rightful place in leadership,” Hon. Bonu stated. “Our leaders must speak with one voice and work collectively to ensure that Badagry produces not only the next governor but also key positions such as the Speaker or Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Since the creation of Lagos State, Badagry has neither produced a governor nor held the positions of Speaker or Deputy Speaker. As one of the indigenous local governments in Lagos, it is time for us to claim our rightful place.”
Hon. Bonu also appealed to the APC leadership to support Badagry’s aspirations, asserting that the division deserves the opportunity to join other regions that have produced governors for the state.
In his remarks, the event's host, Hon. Layode, commended the unity displayed by APC leaders in Badagry and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering collaboration and development across the constituency.
The gathering concluded with a renewed resolve among the leaders to strengthen Badagry’s voice within the political and developmental framework of Lagos State.
