Rhodes-Vivour, who previously contested in 2023 under the Labour Party (LP) but lost to the incumbent Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced his renewed ambition during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today. He emphasized his determination to lead Lagos, stating, “I will not give up on actualising my ambition to become Lagos State Governor.”
Although he confirmed his readiness to return to the political arena, Rhodes-Vivour remained tight-lipped about whether he would continue under the Labour Party or seek a different political platform. His decision has sparked widespread speculation, with analysts predicting that his choice of party could significantly influence the dynamics of the 2027 race.
Rhodes-Vivour’s previous campaign in 2023 resonated strongly with younger voters, who were drawn to his progressive policies and reform-oriented agenda. Political observers believe that his ability to galvanise support from key demographics and build strategic coalitions will determine the success of his 2027 bid.
