Atiku made the allegations during a national conference on strengthening democracy in Nigeria, organized by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy, and Development (Centre LSD), where he appeared as a panelist. He revealed that opposition party leaders had confided in him about receiving the said amount, claiming, "I want to say it here publicly. I met with a political party leadership in the present opposition, and they told me flatly that this government gives them ₦50 million each."
Atiku further questioned the implications of such payments, warning that they could undermine the integrity of political dialogue in the country. "Where do we go from here? This means that if we are not careful, we are talking to some of you here, but you are recipients of the ₦50 million from the APC government," he added.
The allegations come at a time of heightened political tension in Nigeria, with the opposition raising concerns over the ruling party's alleged influence over political opponents through financial incentives.
