The impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has returned from the United States and criticized the process leading to his removal, urging lawmakers to strictly adhere to constitutional provisions.
Speaking publicly for the first time since his impeachment, Obasa addressed a crowd of supporters on Saturday at the Speaker’s Lodge, 47 GRA, Ikeja, Lagos. He dismissed allegations of corruption against him, describing them as baseless and "impossible."
“I am not disturbed, I am not afraid,” Obasa declared, expressing confidence despite the recent developments within the Assembly.
The former Speaker’s return was marked by a large turnout of supporters, underscoring his influence and continued relevance in Lagos politics.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly defended the impeachment process, though further details on the justification remain unclear.
