In response to recent reports claiming its Akwa Ibom refinery project is 90% complete, BUA Group has issued a statement urging the public to disregard such claims, which it described as misleading and unauthorized.
The company clarified that while the 200,000 barrels-per-day refinery is not yet at the reported stage of completion, construction is progressing steadily in alignment with its delivery schedule. BUA emphasized its commitment to transparency and collaboration with its partners to achieve this milestone, which is expected to significantly enhance Nigeria’s refining capacity and bolster the nation’s energy security.
In addition to the refinery, BUA highlighted the rapid progress of other energy projects, including the development of a mini-LNG plant and hybrid power plants aimed at increasing its installed power generation capacity, which already exceeds 1,000MW.
The management cautioned the public against relying on unverified information and encouraged stakeholders to consult official BUA channels for accurate updates. "As we have consistently demonstrated with over 12 completed mega industrial projects worth over $3.5 billion in the last decade, we remain committed to delivering transformative projects that contribute to Nigeria’s industrial and energy sectors," the statement read.
BUA Group expressed gratitude for the public’s continued interest and support, reaffirming its dedication to building a self-reliant Nigeria through its investments in key industries.
