The controversy began when Burna Boy allegedly kicked a fan during his performance, sparking widespread criticism. While the artist has yet to directly address the incident, Cubana Chief Priest has announced a ₦10 million offer to support the boy, whom he described as a victim of the assault.
However, the feud escalated when Burna Boy made a separate announcement, stating his intention to locate Cubana Chief Priest’s estranged brother, now reportedly repairing phones at Alaba Market, and gift him ₦50 million to improve his life. The move, seen by many as a direct jab at Chief Priest, drew a fiery response from the nightlife mogul.
“You get 50 million to give my brother, but the person you kicked, you no give am shishi [a dime]... yeye man,” Cubana Chief Priest fired back on social media, calling out Burna Boy for neglecting the boy caught in the assault.
The incident has ignited a broader conversation on celebrity behavior and accountability. While fans await Burna Boy’s official response, the clash has further polarized opinions, with some supporting Chief Priest’s generosity and others questioning the motives behind both parties' financial pledges.
As of now, Burna Boy has not publicly responded to Cubana Chief Priest’s remarks. Meanwhile, the young man at the center of the controversy has yet to speak out about the offers being made in his name.
This “Naira War” underscores the growing scrutiny of celebrity behavior and their social responsibility in Nigeria, especially when fans and vulnerable individuals are directly affected
