Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benin Zonal Directorate, have apprehended 25 individuals suspected to be trainers and trainees engaged in internet fraud. The arrests, carried out on Thursday, January 16, 2025, followed credible intelligence pointing to an apartment being used as a "Yahoo Boys" training center for cybercrime activities.
The raid on the facility revealed its use as a hub for teaching internet-related fraud and other illicit operations. During the operation, the EFCC recovered six luxury vehicles, laptops, and mobile phones suspected to be tools of their fraudulent activities.
According to the EFCC, the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
The commission reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
