Following the commission’s announcement—corroborated by the Federal Ministry of Information through an official press release urging eligible Nigerians to apply—the website has remained shut down and inaccessible.
A check by Badagry Today also revealed that the press release from the Federal Ministry of Information, originally published at this link, has been deleted, now displaying an error 404 message instead.
Speaking to BBC Pidgin, Mr. Taiwo Hassan, Head of Press and Public Relations at the commission, explained that such disruptions are normal when a website experiences an unusually high number of visitors simultaneously. He confirmed that about 16,000 applicants successfully submitted their applications within the first 24 hours of the job announcement.

"This is the first time the commission is conducting an online recruitment exercise, so it's possible for the website to experience some technical issues," he said. "However, applicants should remain patient as the ICT department is actively working to resolve the problem."
He reassured applicants that the recruitment portal would remain open until March 10, 2025, giving ample time for interested candidates to complete their applications.
"Six weeks is a long period for applicants to apply. If you are unable to apply today, you can still apply another day," Mr. Hassan added.
He further emphasized that high-traffic websites like the commission’s may experience occasional downtimes as they undergo scaling and optimization.
The Federal Civil Service Commission officially opened its portal for applications on Monday, January 27, and is currently receiving applications for various vacancies. Mr. Hassan clarified that each applicant is allowed to apply for only one position, noting that the vacancies accommodate all levels of education.
Additionally, the commission has encouraged physically challenged applicants to apply, reaffirming its commitment to inclusivity in the recruitment process.
