Governance Is Local: Hon. Bonu Wraps Up Christmas in Badagry 3.0 with School Visits, Gifts to Pupils

The festive season may have ended, but Honourable Solomon Bonu, Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Badagry Constituency I, ensured the spirit of giving lingered longer as he concluded the third edition of Christmas in Badagry.  

The initiative, which has become a signature event in Badagry, was held between December 22 and 25, 2024, at the historic Agia Tree Monument, where Christmas was first preached in Nigeria. This year's program was marked by community engagement, charity, and cultural celebration.  

In a fitting conclusion to the event, Hon. Bonu turned his attention to the youngest members of his constituency. Following the resumption of public schools after the holidays, the lawmaker visited selected primary schools in Badagry-West and Olorunda LCDA.  

During his visits, Hon. Bonu distributed essential items, including school bags, writing materials, and food packages, to the pupils. The gesture aimed to support their academic pursuits and nurture a sense of belonging and importance among the children.  

"As we wrapped up Christmas in Badagry 3.0, we had the privilege of visiting some of our local public primary schools," Hon. Bonu said. "Our goal was to instill a sense of belonging and importance in our young pupils while introducing them to the values of good governance in Lagos and Badagry. It was also an opportunity to interact with their teachers."  

The lawmaker expressed his admiration for the students and their potential, stating, "I'm thrilled to say that my visit left me with renewed hope and confidence in the future leaders of Badagry. The potential is vast, and I'm excited to see these young minds grow and develop into compassionate and effective leaders."  

The initiative underscores Hon. Bonu's commitment to grassroots governance and his belief that leadership is most impactful when it directly touches the lives of constituents, particularly children.  

Residents have commended the lawmaker for his continuous efforts to uplift the community, with Christmas in Badagry becoming a platform for celebrating culture, education, and community development.
