Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has asserted that he remains the legitimate speaker of the assembly, citing constitutional backing for his position.
Obasa made this statement on Saturday during a reception held in his honor at Ikeja GRA. The event was attended by supporters from Agege, Alimosho, and Kosofe local government areas, who rallied behind his leadership.
Recall Obasa was recently removed from office by fellow lawmakers, following allegations of gross misconduct and financial impropriety.
In his address, Obasa questioned the legality of his removal, arguing that the procedure did not comply with constitutional requirements. He, however, expressed his willingness to accept the decision if it adheres to due process as outlined in the law.
Further details are expected as the situation develops.
