Iworo Carnival 2025

Iworo Kingdom came alive in a spectacular display of culture, unity, and joy as thousands thronged the streets for the highly anticipated annual carnival. The event, which has become a cornerstone of the community’s traditions, showcased the vibrant spirit of the Iworo people and brought together dignitaries, residents, and visitors in an unforgettable celebration.   

According Badagry Parrot, His Royal Majesty, Oba Oladele Kosoko, Oba Oniworo of Iworo Kingdom, set the tone for the evening with a heartfelt address emphasizing peace and unity. "We must remain law-abiding citizens," he urged, drawing applause from the audience. "People come here every year because Iworo is peaceful. We must continue to promote our culture and values."  

Government Promises Bigger Support 

Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu, Chairman of the House Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, expressed amazement at the massive turnout. He pledged greater government support for the carnival, promising a stronger state presence and more high-profile artists for future editions.  

Hon. Ibrahim Layode, Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, also congratulated the Iworo youth for their enthusiasm and energy. "Big artists will feature next year," he announced, igniting cheers from the crowd.  

HRM Oba Onimeke of Imeke highlighted the long-standing relationship between Iworo and Imeke Kingdoms. "We are brothers and sisters, united in our quest for peace and prosperity," he remarked, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate with the community.   

Prince Olu Kosoko, the Aremo of Iworo Kingdom, lauded Oba Oniworo for his leadership, describing him as a unifier who attracts positive change to the kingdom. He urged the youth to contribute meaningfully to society and assured them of continued support for developmental initiatives.  

Olubanji Oyewole, Assistant Secretary of the Carnival Planning Committee, reflected on the event's consistency since its inception in 2007, except during the COVID-19 pandemic. He appealed to the state government for sponsorship to attract bigger artists and further elevate the carnival's status.  

A Night to Remember

As the night progressed, the streets of Iworo resonated with music, laughter, and energetic dancing, leaving attendees with cherished memories. The presence of notable dignitaries, including HRM Oba Onigbanko of Igbanko Land, Hon. Mrs. Nurat Olayinka Zubar, and representatives of various ministries and organizations, underscored the event's significance.  

The Iworo Carnival 2025 was more than just a celebration; it was a testament to the power of culture in fostering unity and progress. As the crowd dispersed, one sentiment echoed among the attendees: Iworo had truly outdone itself, and the promise of an even bigger carnival next year left everyone eagerly anticipating the future.
