Nigerian Fuji legend, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, has been plunged into mourning once more following the death of his mother, Halimotu Anifowoshe, just four days after the passing of his former wife, Hafsat, who died at 65.

Sources revealed that the centenarian passed away early Saturday in her hometown of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, where she lived. Medical experts pronounced her dead, leaving the community in mourning.

According to a family source, the late Fuji maestro's mother will be buried later in the day in accordance with Islamic rites. The source added that K1 has been deeply affected by the loss, given the close bond he shared with his mother, often referencing her in his performances.

The singer has previously credited his mother for his musical talent, noting that she had the gift of music but was unable to pursue it due to traditional expectations. As a princess and the daughter of a king, her parents discouraged her from singing, fearing it might hinder her chances of marriage.

“I was blessed with the gift of music from a young age; I was born into music. My mother was a singer before she got married. She had the gift of music, but her parents, being royals, didn’t allow her to sing because they believed it would delay her marriage,” K1 once shared.

This tragic news comes shortly after K1 buried his former wife, Hafsat, who succumbed to an undisclosed illness and was laid to rest at Abari Cemetery, Lagos State, according to Islamic traditions.
