Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade, Alaafin-Elect 

Oyo State Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde, has officially approved Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo, following his recommendation by the Oyomesi, the traditional kingmakers of Oyo.  

This announcement was made in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who noted that the decision came after thorough consultations and traditional divinations.  

According to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, the appointment marks the end of a period of socio-political and legal disputes that arose after the passing of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.  

Hon. Ojo urged all citizens of Oyo State to celebrate this historic occasion and extend their support to the new monarch. He also expressed hope that the reign of Prince Owoade would usher in peace, prosperity, and unity for the Oyo Kingdom.  

Prince Abimbola Owoade’s emergence as the Alaafin of Oyo is seen as a significant milestone for the ancient Yoruba Kingdom, known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance.
