A new chapter in the cultural and traditional history of Lagos State unfolded today as His Royal Majesty, Oba Kolawole Abdulateef Lawal, was officially installed as the Olumegbon of Lagos, Ajah, and Okun Ajah. The grand ceremony was attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, and the people of Lagos, marking a significant milestone for the Olumegbon lineage and the state at large.  

In a heartfelt statement, Prince Muhammed Rosul Eshilokun of Lagos Island Local Government expressed pride and joy at the momentous occasion. Describing it as a historic event, Eshilokun noted that the installation of Oba Lawal signifies the preservation and continuity of the Olumegbon dynasty and the rich cultural heritage of Lagos.  

"With joy and a profound sense of pride, today marks a significant milestone in the history of Lagos State and the Olumegbon lineage. We gather to celebrate the official installation of His Royal Majesty, Oba Kolawole Lawal Olumegbon, as the Olumegbon of Lagos, Ajah, and Okun Ajah," Eshilokun stated.  

He further highlighted the importance of the Olumegbon stool in the history of Lagos and expressed hope that Oba Lawal's reign would bring prosperity, peace, and unity to the kingdom and the entire state.  

"Your installation as the custodian of tradition and culture signifies continuity and a renewal of hope for prosperity, peace, and unity within the kingdom. Your ascension brings renewed vigour to the throne of our forefathers," he added.  

The Olumegbon stool, steeped in historical significance, represents the enduring legacy of one of Lagos's oldest and most respected ruling houses. The ascension of Oba Lawal is seen as a beacon of strength and continuity for the Olumegbon family and Lagosians who cherish their shared cultural heritage.  

As the festivities filled the air with jubilation, Eshilokun prayed for a prosperous, peaceful, and impactful reign for Oba Lawal. "May your reign bring development to Lagos, strength to your people, and a legacy that generations will honour and emulate. Long live His Royal Majesty, Olumegbon Ajaiye."  

The installation ceremony serves as a reminder of Lagos's deep-rooted traditions, uniting its people in celebration and reverence for its royal institutions.
