Afisi joined LASU as an Assistant Lecturer in March 2007. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, becoming an Associate Professor in 2020 and a full Professor in 2023. Notably, he is the first indigenous Professor of Philosophy in LASU's Department of Philosophy. He also served as the Head of the Department from March 2019 to October 2021.
