Late Sunny Ajose Was an Important Partner in Development – President Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tribute to the late Chief Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, describing him as a vital partner in the development of Lagos State and an exemplary leader whose contributions to governance and public service left an indelible mark.  

In a condolence message to  the Lagos State Government, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the people of Badagry, via a verified Facebook page of the Presidential Villa, Theasvilla, the Peesident Tinubu mourned the passing of Chief Ajose, a former Head of Service, elder statesman, and APC stalwart, who died on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the age of 78.  

Reflecting on their working relationship during his tenure as Lagos State Governor, President Tinubu highlighted Chief Ajose’s dedication to civil service reform and his role in fostering policy success.  

"Chief Sunny Ajose was more than a colleague; he was an astute administrator and a rallying point for the civil service. His efforts were instrumental in gaining the workforce's support for our transformative initiatives. His leadership extended beyond his official duties, making him an indispensable partner in the development of Lagos State," the President noted.  

The President praised Ajose’s unwavering commitment to his roots, emphasizing his significant contributions to the progress of Badagry and the state at large. As the sole representative of Badagry on the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council, Ajose was recognized for his steadfast advocacy for his constituency and his ability to unite diverse interests.  

President Tinubu extended his sympathies to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the government, and the people of Lagos State, acknowledging Ajose’s legacy as a statesman and a unifying force. He prayed for strength for Ajose’s family and eternal rest for his soul.  

Born on February 10, 1946, in Badagry, Sunny Ajose pursued academic excellence in Nigeria and the United States, earning degrees in Liberal Arts and Social Science. He joined the Lagos Civil Service in 1979 and rose to become Head of Service in 2004, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and dedication to public service.  

His passing marks the end of an era, but his contributions to Lagos State’s development will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.
