Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has described his son’s death as a bittersweet turning point in his life, attributing his improved circumstances to divine intervention and the spirit of Mohbad.
In a recent interview with media personality Akin Abolade, Aloba revealed that while his son had ambitious plans to support him, those intentions were unfulfilled before his untimely demise. However, since Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, Aloba said he has experienced an outpouring of assistance from well-meaning individuals.
“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend. He had it in plan to do many things for me but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together, that began to send people to assist me,” Aloba stated.
Aloba disclosed that he has received various gifts, including a new truck and a Toyota Highlander vehicle, courtesy of compassionate Nigerians. He expressed gratitude for the unexpected blessings, describing them as manifestations of his late son’s unfulfilled intentions.
He reminisced about Mohbad’s early musical journey, sharing that the late singer began accompanying him as a backup vocalist at the tender age of one. Aloba also recounted how Mohbad’s birth inspired him to pursue a singing career after the funds for the naming ceremony were stolen.
In the wake of Mohbad’s passing, Aloba has embraced his own music career, releasing nine songs as a tribute to his late son and as a way of coping with the loss.
Mohbad’s death remains shrouded in mystery, with investigations ongoing to determine the cause. Despite the tragedy, Aloba expressed hope and gratitude, stating that his son’s spirit continues to inspire and guide him.
