According to the Defence Chief, Turji’s decision comes after sustained military operations that neutralized his second-in-command and several other key lieutenants. The offensive has significantly weakened Turji’s hold on his group, forcing him to release many of his hostages.
“He has been forced to release most of the people under him,” General Musa explained. “Recently, he started saying he doesn’t want anything anymore and is ready to surrender.”
General Musa noted that Turji’s operations have been aided by his deep integration into local communities, which often delays military responses. “They are within the communities; the people know them. By the time we get the information, it’s often too late as they’ve already moved,” he said.
Despite the terrorist’s reported willingness to lay down arms, General Musa emphasized that those responsible for the killing of innocent citizens must face justice.
“We want to take everybody out. Anybody who has killed should go. People like him should not be allowed to remain,” he stated firmly.
The military’s recent successes are part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace across affected regions.
