In a heartwarming development, Gidi Real Estate Investment has offered a full scholarship to Abayomi Micheal, a three-year-old boy who was physically abused by his teacher in Ikorodu, Lagos. The scholarship will cover his education from nursery school to university and includes accommodation for his mother.

Abayomi, a pupil at Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, was allegedly abused by his teacher, 45-year-old Stella Nwadigo, who has since been arrested. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, January 8, 2025, sparked outrage across the state.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, announced the scholarship during a press briefing in Lagos. He praised Gidi Real Estate for their generosity and highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government and private sector in addressing societal challenges.

“As a ministry, we are committed to empowering citizens and ensuring justice is served, which aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's vision for a greater Lagos. Today, Gidi Real Estate Investment pledged to sponsor Abayomi’s education and provide accommodation for his mother. This is a remarkable gesture that underscores the power of partnerships in creating a better society,” Ogunlende said.

He also lauded the public for bringing the incident to light, emphasizing the need for vigilance and reporting abuse. “Together, we can build a Lagos where everyone thrives in safety and prosperity,” he added.

The gesture by Gidi Real Estate has been widely praised as an example of how private organizations can step in to support vulnerable members of society. The case has also reignited conversations about the need for stricter measures to prevent child abuse in schools.

The teacher, Nwadigo, is currently in police custody and is expected to face legal proceedings soon.
