A retired police inspector, Linus Monday, who was apprehended in 2022 for engaging in an illegal stop-and-search operation, has resurfaced in the news following a post by Instagram account @whiteshark_blog. The post, which showed Monday in police uniform and displaying an ID card with the number 6257, quickly gained traction, amassing 175 likes and over 30 comments within hours.
Although the post did not specify the location of the incident, it revealed that Monday had been paraded at a police division. Social media users reacted strongly, with one commenter, @_shopping_for_free, urging the police to identify and apprehend any accomplices, arguing that such operations are rarely conducted by a single individual. Another user, @alhaji_highway, described the incident as reflective of "addictive bribery behavior."
This renewed attention coincides with a separate case in Kaduna State, where the police command recently arrested a man impersonating a police officer for over a decade.
