The crisis within the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intensified on Thursday as the new acting chairman, Robinson Ewor, warned that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, and other members guilty of anti-party activities could face expulsion.

Addressing a press conference in Port Harcourt, Ewor disclosed that the party would soon establish a disciplinary committee to address infractions, particularly those tied to the 2023 general elections.

Ewor stated that the committee would enforce the party's constitution, imposing penalties such as suspension and expulsion on erring members.

"We shall in the next few days set up a disciplinary committee to address issues of anti-party activities, especially during the 2023 general elections and beyond," Ewor announced. "Those found wanting shall face appropriate sanctions, including suspension, expulsion, and other measures provided for in the party’s constitution."

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to maintaining its supremacy, implementing its manifesto, and working in alignment with the national leadership.

“The party is supreme. We shall uphold its supremacy, implement its manifesto, and abide by its constitution,” he concluded.
