William Manga, the FRSC Unit Commander in Badagry, confirmed the incident to journalists. The accident occurred around 3:27 p.m. in the Age-Mowo area of the expressway.
“Our personnel were alerted to the accident at about 3:30 p.m., and we arrived at the scene within six minutes,” Mr. Manga said.
The crash involved a Toyota Matrix car, with the registration number KSF 235 JE, and a Bajaj tricycle without a plate number.
“Two of the three tricycle occupants died on the spot, while one sustained injuries,” the commander stated.
He attributed the accident to dangerous overtaking, which led to a head-on collision.
The injured victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Badagry for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
Mr. Manga urged motorists using the Lagos-Badagry Expressway to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations, especially given the one-lane nature of the road.
