Wambui, who remarkably paid her own dowry of Ksh 40,000, is now embroiled in a bitter property dispute while raising their three children single-handedly.
The contested property, located in Mwihoko, comprises a main house and six rental units. Wambui claims she financed the entire construction using proceeds from her mitumba business. However, she alleges that Mutembei has been collecting rent from the property for three years without contributing to the children’s upkeep.
“I built the house 100% and even paid my own bride price in the name of love. Today, he collects rent from the main house and all six units while I struggle to raise the kids alone,” Wambui lamented in a Facebook post.
She further disclosed that after completing the Mwihoko property, where the couple later separated, she managed to build two additional houses: a luxurious home in a posh Nairobi neighborhood and another in her rural hometown of Ruiri, Meru.

Her frustration peaked when she discovered that Mutembei had rented out the main house, ignoring her repeated pleas for financial support. Matters escalated when Mutembei reported her to the Mwihoko Police Post, accusing her of trespassing and taking photos of the property.
“This is the house I struggled to build. He locked the gate today, forgetting I bought it myself. If I cannot get justice in Kenya, I will lose, and he will lose too. We all get buried today,” Wambui wrote, expressing her anger and despair.
Wambui revealed that her relationship with Mutembei was informal and lacked legal recognition. Despite this, she stayed committed, believing in their future together. Now, she vows to fight for justice, even if it means taking drastic measures.
