The defendant, whose residential address remains undisclosed, faced a two-count charge of breach of peace and theft. She, however, pleaded not guilty.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, informed the court that the incident occurred on January 31 at approximately 12:01 p.m. He alleged that the minor unlawfully accessed the residence of one Mrs. Hannah Oni using a spare key without consent.
According to Adeosun, this was not the first time the defendant had allegedly entered the complainant's home to steal. "On the said day, she was caught inside the house in the act of stealing money," he stated, adding that the matter was subsequently reported to the police for prosecution.
The offences, he noted, are in violation of Sections 168 and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law.
Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya granted the defendant bail set at ₦300,000, with the condition that her father must stand as surety.
