In a statement issued on Sunday in Badagry, the monarch expressed dismay over a social media report suggesting he was aware of an impending smuggling operation in the region.
"As a peace-loving ruler, I was shocked to see my name included in an online report accusing me of supporting smuggling activities in Badagry," Oba Oyekan stated.
Firmly rejecting the allegations, the traditional leader declared, "I have no hand in any illicit smuggling of contraband into Lagos. I am content with what God has given me. Those attempting to tarnish the reputation of the Alapa of Egun-Awori Apa Kingdom should desist immediately."
The monarch further emphasized his commitment to upholding law and order, stating that no amount of persuasion or financial inducement could sway him into supporting illegal activities.
Oba Oyekan also warned the writer behind the report to refrain from linking his name to unlawful acts, reiterating that he has no connection to smuggling operations in Badagry.
