APC Begins Nationwide E-Registration of Members Linked to Individual's NIN

In a landmark move to enhance transparency and efficiency in party administration, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced the electronic registration of its members nationwide, integrating the process with the National Identification Number (NIN).

The initiative, aimed at creating a verifiable and up-to-date membership database, is designed to leverage technology in strengthening the party’s internal processes. The official launch of the digital registration exercise took place on Tuesday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, where the party signed an agreement with ICT consultancy firm, Tunmef Global Limited, to execute the project.

Speaking at the event, APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, described the initiative as a historic milestone for the ruling party. He credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the project, which he said had been long envisioned but was only now coming to fruition.

“We are always making history as a party,” Ganduje said. “Thanks to Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for approving this initiative. Without proper documentation, we are merely operating blindly. With e-registration, we will have scientific and accurate data that will be invaluable for party administration, planning, and even legal matters.”

The APC leader emphasized that the integration of members’ registration numbers with NIN would provide a foolproof method of verifying party membership, eliminating discrepancies, and ensuring credibility in electoral processes. He further urged state governors and party chairmen to drive the implementation at the grassroots level.

Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, hailed the initiative as a game-changer for the APC, stating that it would improve the integrity of the party’s membership records.

“If we claim to have ten million members, this exercise will provide concrete evidence to back that up,” Uzodimma remarked. “When elections come, we can confidently predict our numbers based on verifiable data.”

APC’s National Legal Adviser, Prof. AbdulKareem Kana (SAN), provided further insight into the project, explaining that the digital system would allow real-time access to membership details nationwide. He affirmed that the registration process, which links each member’s data to their NIN, was designed to prevent fraud and enhance accountability.

The selection of Tunmef Global Limited as the project consultant followed a rigorous vetting process, and the party has fully funded the initiative internally. According to Kana, the agreement with the consultant is structured to safeguard the party’s interests and ensure the project’s successful implementation.

The signing ceremony was attended by key APC stakeholders, including members of the National Working Committee (NWC), APC governors such as Cross River’s Bassey Otu and Kogi’s Usman Ododo, and state party chairmen.

With this digital transformation, APC aims to set a new standard in party administration, reinforcing its status as Nigeria’s most organized and technologically advanced political party.
