The House clarified that the allegations, which were first circulated last year, have been firmly denied by the named lawmakers. According to the statement, one of the implicated members has already initiated legal action to clear his name, while others have been encouraged to pursue similar measures to protect their reputations.
Furthermore, the House highlighted that the issue has escalated beyond individual accusations and has become a matter of diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United States. The Federal Government, prioritizing national interest, has reportedly rejected financial settlement offers from Binance, raising concerns about the motives behind the allegations.
Given the ongoing legal and diplomatic processes, the House stated that it would refrain from further commentary in adherence to established parliamentary, judicial, and diplomatic principles. It urged the public to rely on verified facts and not be swayed by repeated claims aimed at undermining Nigerian institutions and public officials.
The House of Representatives reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
