Speaking during the Assembly’s Yoruba Language Plenary session on Thursday, Hon. Bonu seized the opportunity to draw attention to the condition of these critical roads, which serve as vital links for residents and businesses in Badagry.
His advocacy came amid discussions on infrastructure challenges in Lagos, following a motion by Hon. Aro Abiodun Moshood of Ikorodu II, who raised concerns over the slow pace of work on the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Igbe Road in Ikorodu.
Taking to his Facebook page after the plenary, Hon. Bonu emphasized the need for equitable development across Lagos communities, stating:
"I took the opportunity to highlight the deplorable condition of the Iyafin and Agbovipe-Erekiti roads in Badagry, which have been under construction for years. I emphasized that the Ikorodu community, which gave the current administration the highest number of votes in the last general election, deserves more attention. I also stressed that other indigenous communities, such as Badagry and Epe, should receive similar consideration."
The lawmaker’s plea underscores growing concerns over infrastructure neglect in Badagry, a historical and economic hub that continues to struggle with poor road networks. Stakeholders in the constituency have since echoed his call, urging the state government to prioritize the completion of these projects for the benefit of residents and businesses.
With the renewed push at the Assembly, it remains to be seen how soon action will be taken to address the lingering road issues in Badagry.
