Court Remands 9 Cultist Arrested at Ibiye for Murder in Awhanjigo Prison at Badagry

A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered the remand of nine suspected cultists at Awhanjigo Correctional Facility over alleged involvement in a cult group and an attempted murder case, report by NAN detailed.

The defendants, identified as Dosunmu Sodiq (29), Oluwasegun Adekunle (37), Anthony Agosa (27), Adesoji Adekunle (35), Sehidu Olamide (25), Rasak Oyebanji (27), Oluwaseun Wusu (30), Soqid Edwin (29), and Keji Okunade (37), were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful society membership, and attempted murder.

Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate Lazarus Hotepo ordered their remand following their plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter to March 7 for further hearing.

Prosecuting officer ASP Ayodele Adeosun informed the court that the accused were apprehended on January 19 at Ibiye Community, off Badagry Expressway, at approximately 9:00 a.m. He alleged that the men were members of the Eiye Confraternity, an unlawful society, and had conspired to commit felonious acts.

The case continues as investigations progress.
