Governor Sani assured the defectors of equal treatment within the APC, emphasizing that all members—new or old—would enjoy the same rights and privileges. "Someone who joined APC today and the one who has been a foundation member 10 years ago are of the same status," he declared to the enthusiastic crowd.
The governor further urged the new APC members to bring in their supporters, reaffirming that the party remained open to more defectors. He attributed APC’s growing appeal to its governance style at both state and federal levels.
"By the 2027 elections, the electorate will vote for APC in all categories—from the presidency, led by our leader President Bola Tinubu, to governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly positions," he stated confidently.
Despite past political rivalries, the defection of Shehu Sani—who once fiercely opposed the APC administration in Kaduna, particularly under El-Rufai—marks a significant shift in the state's political landscape. His move to the ruling party aligns with that of other notable figures, including former Governor Muktar Ramalan-Yero, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, and Alhaji Sani Sha’aban, a former gubernatorial candidate of the NNPP.
Other prominent defectors included Senator Danjuma Laah (formerly of PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, a former PDP National Organizing Secretary, and Ambassador Sule Buba, Nigeria’s former envoy to South Korea.
Governor Sani assured that his administration would continue to execute developmental projects across the state, regardless of party affiliation, ethnicity, or religion. "Politics is different from governance," he said. "We will be fair to all, whether or not they voted for us, because that is the oath of office we swore to uphold."
With Shehu Sani now in the APC, Kaduna’s political dynamics may witness a new era of alliances and power shifts ahead of the 2027 elections.
