There is palpable disquiet in the Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Badagry Local Government following the removal of Mrs. Bola Oladipupo, the nominee for the position of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Political Affairs, by the Council Chairman, Hon. Samson Folorunso Olatunde.

Mrs. Oladipupo, who was recently announced for the position by Hon. Olatunde, was dropped even before her inauguration.

The council chairman had initially appointed Mrs. Oladipupo alongside Mrs. Akinyemi Modinat Folorunso and Mrs. Daniyan Aishat Olaide to honor the late APC Apex Leader in Badagry, PA Akinsanya Sunny Ajose. Late Ajose, the only Badagry representative in the Lagos State Governor's Advisory Council (GAC), was celebrated posthumously with these appointments, which were unveiled at the 2025 Olorunda LCDA Women Colloquium and Empowerment Program. According to Abdulwahab Adeosun, the chairman’s media aide, the move was part of efforts to preserve the elder statesman’s contributions to Badagry's development.

Meanwhile, burial rites for Late PA Akinsanya Sunny Ajose are set to take place from February 5 to 8, 2025.

In a sudden turn of events, Badagry Today has confirmed that Mrs. Oladipupo has been removed from the list of three SSAs to be inaugurated today at the council secretariat in Iworo. Her replacement, Mrs. Gladys Mosheri, will join Mrs. Akinyemi Modinat Folorunso and Mrs. Daniyan Aishat Olaide as the newly confirmed appointees.

Speaking to Badagry Today via telephone, Mrs. Oladipupo alleged that her removal was politically motivated. She claimed she was dropped by Olorunda council chairman, Mr. Samola because she refused to support the council chairman’s preferred candidate for the upcoming local government chairmanship election.

"I was reluctant to accept the nomination when the chairman announced my name because I had foreseen possible inconsistencies in the appointment process. I even suggested that my son be appointed instead, but the chairman rejected the option. Eventually, I accepted the role," she explained.

"I was stunned when I received a call from the council informing me that my name had been removed and replaced with someone else. I was told I was dropped because I am an aspirant for the Olorunda LCDA chairmanship seat. But that is not true. Reliable sources close to the chairman informed me that my removal was due to my refusal to support his anointed chairmanship candidate. Interestingly, several other appointees, including supervisors and his chief of staff, are also contesting for political offices. Why wasn’t their resignation demanded? I was simply removed for refusing to align with the chairman’s candidate," she said.

Efforts to reach Hon. Samson Olatunde for confirmation were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls. However, his Chief of Staff, Mr. Dauda Aina, refuted the claims, stating that Mrs. Oladipupo was replaced due to her political aspirations, not because of her lack of support for a particular candidate.

"The chairman decided to replace her with a neutral woman who would not be distracted by political ambitions," Aina said, dismissing Oladipupo’s allegations as unfounded.
