The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has issued a stern warning to loan apps and businesses that harass and intimidate Nigerians over unpaid loans.
Amid growing concerns about aggressive debt recovery tactics, the FCCPC has urged Nigerians to report cases of harassment, including threatening messages, calls, and social media shaming.
“No consumer should live in fear,” the commission stated, reaffirming its commitment to protecting Nigerians from unfair and deceptive practices. Loan apps and businesses found engaging in such behavior will face severe consequences.
The FCCPC has assured swift action against reported cases and encourages Nigerians to lodge complaints via its website or social media channels. This move signals the government’s commitment to consumer rights and fair business practices.
