A wave of unrest swept through Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area in Ondo State, as enraged youths reportedly set a police division ablaze following the alleged torture and death of a young boy in police custody.
Sources indicate that the protesters took to the streets upon learning of the victim’s death, while his friend remains in a coma at a hospital.
Amid the chaos, another building in the area was also reportedly torched.
In response to the crisis, Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, has left Akure for Ifon in a bid to restore order and prevent further escalation of violence.
