Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, disclosed this in a statement following a strategic meeting with the ministry team and partners of the LAG-UP initiative. He emphasized that the program, which is set to begin in the first quarter of the year, has already registered over 32,000 participants.
"The initiative is a partnership between the ministry, GFA Technologies, and Wema Bank. We are committed to training and empowering young people, regardless of their educational background, by equipping them with the skills they need to succeed in their careers,”Ogunlende stated.
The Commissioner noted that discussions at the meeting focused on program reports, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring a seamless implementation of the next phase. He commended the enthusiasm of the team, expressing confidence in achieving another milestone in the coming months.
Calling on youths across the state to seize the opportunity, Ogunlende reiterated that the program is completely free and aimed at transforming lives.
"I encourage all young people to take advantage of this initiative. It has the potential to make a significant difference in their future, and I am fully committed to supporting it,” he added.
The LAG-UP initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's vision for youth empowerment, leveraging public-private partnerships to tackle unemployment and bridge the digital skills gap in Lagos.
With digital transformation becoming a key driver of economic growth, this initiative is expected to open doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and innovation for thousands of young Lagosians.
