The Lagos State University (LASU) is set to upgrade its School of Basic and Advanced Studies (LASUSBAB) in Badagry, following a commitment from the institution's Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Sir David Sunmoni.

During an official visit to the Badagry campus on Monday, Sunmoni assured stakeholders that the governing council would enhance existing facilities to improve learning conditions. The visit, he explained, was aimed at assessing infrastructure and identifying key areas for development.

Members of the council and administrative staff conducted an inspection of the campus, evaluating essential facilities such as the library, CCTV control room, science and arts classrooms, laboratories, the Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre, and the cafeteria. Following the assessment, Sunmoni pledged to expand the CBT centre to accommodate more students and external candidates.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adenike Boyo, lauded the initiative, noting that the inspection would provide strategic direction for further development.

Prof. Dauda Yunus, Director of LASUSBAB, outlined recent achievements, including the construction of new cafeterias, the establishment of a CBT centre, procurement of a 150 KVA generator, refurbishment of classrooms and laboratories, installation of solar lights, and deployment of 40 CCTV cameras. He also highlighted key milestones such as the timely payment of JUPEB examination fees, staff training, and salary payments, which have contributed to the school's impressive academic performance.

However, Yunus appealed for additional support from the governing council, calling for new student hostels, a 42-seater coaster bus, expansion of the CBT centre, construction of more classrooms, a perimeter fence along the lagoon for security, painting of campus buildings, and additional administrative offices.

The visit underscores LASU’s commitment to enhancing its Badagry campus, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students and staff.
