Man Docked at Badagry Court for Alleged ₦2.6 Million Theft in Aradagun

A 24-year-old man, Moses Kalejaiye, was on Friday arraigned before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over allegations of stealing ₦2.6 million.  

Kalejaiye, who is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy and theft, pleaded not guilty to the charges.  

According to the prosecution, led by Ayodele Adeosun, the defendant, along with others still at large, allegedly committed the offence on October 3 at No. 4 Agbeke Street, King George, Aradagun, Badagry.  

Adeosun told the court that Kalejaiye broke into the residence of the complainant, Tokenji Semako, and stole the sum of ₦2.6 million. He was reportedly apprehended by neighbors, who subsequently handed him over to the police.  

The prosecutor stated that the offences violated Sections 287, 411, and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Under the law, stealing carries a maximum jail term of three years, while conspiracy is punishable by up to two years in prison.  

Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to February 24 for mention.
