The Anambra State Government has sealed a notorious shrine in Umuofor village, Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, over allegations of involvement in money rituals, known locally as Yahoo Plus, and the controversial Oke Ite practice.

The shrine, reportedly operated by self-proclaimed native doctor Ekene Igboegbueze, was shut down after multiple complaints from residents and a viral video in which the suspect openly admitted to performing Oke Ite, Yahoo Plus, and Awele rituals. His activities, authorities say, violate the Anambra State Homeland Security Laws.

Leading the operation, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Ken Emeakayi, confirmed that all properties acquired by Igboegbueze through his alleged illegal practices have also been sealed. Items recovered from the shrine will undergo forensic analysis to determine further government action.

Meanwhile, Director of Operations for the Agunechemba Security Outfit, Mr. Chinenye Ihenko, expressed concern over the rising influence of fake native doctors and self-styled spiritual leaders, warning youths against seeking wealth through dubious means. He called for a societal shift away from the get-rich-quick mentality that fuels such fraudulent practices.
