The Lagos State Police Command has reinstated the security aides of the factional Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, following their sudden withdrawal on Thursday morning.
The withdrawal had sparked controversy, coming just hours before the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, returned to the assembly complex, flanked by security operatives, and insisted he remained the rightful Speaker.
Addressing the press on Thursday, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, confirmed that Meranda’s security details had been fully restored. He explained that the initial withdrawal was part of an ongoing audit of police personnel and firearms.
The development comes amid heightened tensions in the Lagos Assembly, where a leadership tussle has continued to unfold.
